Islam: THY stops serving alcohol on domestic flightsTurkish Airlines (THY) will stop serving alcoholic beverages in business class during domestic flights except when flying to six specific destination points, as daily Hurriyet reports reports, claiming the demand was too low. After surveying the preferences of passengers over the last year, Turkish Airlines has decided to remove alcoholic drinks from the service menu except during flights to Istanbul, Izmir, Bodrum, Dalaman, Antalya and Ankara. Alcoholic beverages used to be served to business class passengers aboard domestic flights up until last week [...] Two days ago THY was also under fire after photos of prospective new uniforms for crew members were leaked online. The public found the new designs ultra conservative, stirring controversy on social media channels.

Bei Egypt Air scheint der Ausschank von Alkohol bereits verboten. Und auch "am Boden" soll es in Ägypten Neuerungen geben. Es liegen Pläne in der Schublade, wonach der Verkauf von Alkohol in den Duty Free Läden untersagt wird:
Egypt may ban alcohol sales at duty-free shopsAlready prohibited on national airline [...] Egypt's Civil Aviation Ministry may prohibit sales of alcoholic beverages in the 67 duty-free Egyptian airport shops operated by Egyptair, the flagship carrier. The decision is part of a crackdown on alcohol - prohibited by Islam - which has intensified since the Muslim Brotherhood took power. The ban, ANSAmed was told by a Cairo airport source, may lead to heavy losses, given that the single largest source of revenue are sales of alcohol and tobacco. ''There has been pressure to stop the sale of alcohol, and they are looking into whether to ban it entirely or to allow tourists to buy it,''
