The Algerian Ministry of Defense has launched a security operation in the Bir El Ater region of Tebessa Province near the Tunisian border following the explosion of a landmine. The explosion, which was reportedly placed by militant groups active in the area, killed four civilians. Bir El Alter is located in eastern Algeria, about 497 km (309 miles) southeast of Algiers.
