Foreign nationals no longer allowed to enter Libya via Labraq Airport

Foreign nationals will no longer be able to enter Libya via Beida’s Labraq Airport, which is currently being used by airlines affected by the continued closure of Benghazi’s Benina Airport.

The Libyan Civil Aviation Authority (LYCAA) announced today that airlines must not allow non-Libyan passengers to board international flights headed to Labraq until further notice, citing security concerns.

Ibrahim Al-Obeidi, manager of Libyan Airlines’ Labraq office, confirmed to the Libya Herald that non-nationals could no longer enter Libya through the airport. He said, however, they could still use the airport for departures.

Due to continued security issues in Benghazi, and the closure of Benina Airport, Libyan Airlines announced last week that Benghazi flights would operate from Labraq. A Libyan Airlines’ representative said that they had been told to use Labraq for the next two weeks.

Other airlines followed suit, including Afriqiyah Airlines, Tunisair and Buraq Air.
