The Integrated Unit of Iona National Park alerts all national and international tourists, as well as the general public, that access to the Hills, Carvahão Lagoon and Iona National Park (via Pediva and Salonjamba) should be done with the utmost caution due to the high volume of water accumulated on the road, resulting from the rains recorded in recent days. Some users of these roads have experienced some setbacks, but have since been assisted without significant material damage.
According to the administrator of Iona National Park, Sango dos Anjos de Sá, the conditions caused by the rains have made the route highly unsafe, so maximum caution and strict compliance with this guidance is urged.
“Any travel to the aforementioned area should be avoided until normal traffic conditions are restored,” he stated.
Sango dos Anjos Carlos de Sá further stated that the Integrated Park Management Unit has a Field Operations Department (headed by Daniel Van Dayer) which is responsible for monitoring the situation on the ground, and therefore we will continue to provide updated information through official channels.
Viele Grüße
