EGYPT: CHINESE GRANT FOR DEMINING, DELEVOPING N.WEST COAST

CAIRO - Egypt received the first Chinese grant of landmines detection and removal apparatus along with five Chinese experts to train Egyptian staff on using the equipment. The Chinese grant is meant to buttress the Egyptian national plan for removing mines and developing the northwestern coast and its hinterland which could accommodate up to 1.5 million people by 2022. The hinterland, which covers 22 percent of Egypt's area, abounds with oil, natural gas and water resources. The Chinese assistance is also part of an agreement signed between the two countries in December 2008 on promoting bilateral cooperation. The International Cooperation Ministry seeks through enhancing ties with Egypt's partners to secure needed demining equipment for the 60 billion EGP development projects enacted by the cabinet in 2005 to see the light of day.

EGYPT: COASTAL AREA CLEANSED OF LANDMINES, MINISTER

CAIRO - Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Abul Naga said Monday 32,000 feddans in Egypt's northwest coast were cleansed of landmines. The mines were removed from both sides of Al Hamam canal, she said. The area was cleansed in accordance with a plan formulated by the ministry's executive secretariat for landmine removal together with agencies concerned and the Matrouh Governorate. Landmines planted during WWI have obstructed development on one fifth of Egypt's territory namely around 20 million feddans, over the past 60 years, she said. She urged Britain, Germany and Italy - the countries directly responsible for planting these mines - to increase their contribution to this project, given the magnitude of the problem and its repercussions.

Je m'arrête car cela m'évoque un champ de mines ! je le dis à notre policier, qui rigole, et part au milieu de la zone, stoppe et blêmit. Je le rejoins en marchant dans ses pas. Les autres ne nous rejoignent pas ! On marche sur nos pas pour revenir. C'est complètement conforme à ce qu'on m'avait dit : si on voit un piquetage, des barbelés c'est la désignation des champs de mines connus, c'est à dire là où des accidents ont eu lieu. Les mines peuvent dater de la WW2 mis aussi du conflit moins ancien avec le Soudan, voir même avec la Libye voisine. J'ai une base de données des champs de mines connus dans le coin, et d'ailleurs ils sont affichés en permanence à l'écran du Toughbook, mais cette mine est à 1 km du point donné dans la database, qui est plus au nord. Ces champs de mines doivent bien rester à l'esprit du voyageur dans le secteur. Les spécialistes des mines me diront sans doute la provenance et l'ancienneté de celle-ci."

ich suche ein Satellitenbild vom Nordgilf, idealerweise vom Wadi Gubba bis zum Aqaba-Pass runter.
Stellst du auch sowas zur Verfügung? Ich will es ausdrucken und wie eine normale Landkarte nutzen.
