TRANSPORT: TENDER SUBMITTED FOR ALGERIA-MAURITANIA ROAD

ALGIERS - A national and international tender was submitted today by the Algerian minister of Public Works for the economic and technical feasibility study of the construction of a road between Algeria and Mauritania. The APS press agency reports that proposals must be presented before December 21. The new road is meant to link the south-western Algerian city of Tindouf to Choum, in the north of Mauritania. The idea was launched in the most recent meeting o the Great bilateral Algerian-Mauritanian commission. There are also plans for a second road, between Assamaka, at the Algerian border, and Arlit, in the north of Niger.

Bisher ist lediglich die Machbarkeitsstudie ausgeschrieben worden,
bis zum Bau ist es noch ein langer sandiger Weg ...

Niger to Complete Trans-Sahara Highway

Niger was granted funds to construct its section of the Trans-Sahara highway linking “Arlit with “Asamaki” on 223 km. The project is worth 80 million dollars and will be funded by international financial institutions including Islamic Bank for Development, African Bank for Development and Kuwaiti Fund for development. The Niger section will complete the Trans-Sahara highway that runs from Algeria in North Africa to Nigeria in the south west of the continent on the Atlantic Ocean.
