Following a 20 days negotiations with security services
Droukdel and 60 of his elements enter into truce

Chief of Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) reconverted into Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Abdelmalek Droukdel has entered into an unannounced truce, a source within Algerian Organization for Peace Protection said.

The same source added negotiations between security services and Droukdel, and his 60 elements, have taken place in Boumerdes and Tizi Ouzou, and then in Lakhdaria, and lasted for 20 days, i.e. amid last Presidentials’ campaign.
Therefore, the two parts have reached a compromise displayed in an unannounced truce that likely to be followed by important political decisions.
Furthermore, the same source said: “the mediator had moved, with documents in hand, to Kabylia region. He had also taken with him some of Hattab’s letters to Droukdel, via the mediation of Droukdel’s military adviser, namely Rabah El Mekhfi, alias Cheikh Abderrahmane, who joined armed fiefs in 1993.”
In fact such a truce is owed to theorist of GSPC, Ahmed Djebril, who voluntarily ceded leadership in 1996; before getting in touch with military authorities. It is worth to mention that this man is the right arm of Droukdel, graduated from National Administration College; and enjoys interesting skills in terms of organization, added the same source.
However, as far as the amnesty issue is bound to a political compromise, that likely to require a popular referendum, the agreement being sealed with Droukdel group is subject to pledges and guarantees that are to take a form of a Presidential Amnesty, or something, targeting at persuading the last element to lay down his arm.

Droudkel mysteriously missing in video tape

The second part of a video posted by the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) did not show the national leader of the group Abdelmalek Droudkel nicknamed Abu Musab Abdelouadoud while it showed the suicide attacks mastermind with a mask on his face.

"The masked man is Abderrahmane Bouzekzeka nicknamed Abderrahmane Etelali. He was killed in a military operation following an investigation,” sources told Echorouk.
The video which was prepared in April 2009 showed old repeated scenes and others of the group being under blockade.
GSPC’s video tapes generally show Droudkel as he is “the leader of the group” and the “cheikh.”
According to the same sources, he was absent in the video tape because he is ill while the GSPC command was trying to deny that by focusing on him.
A security expert believes that the absence of Doudkel’s pictures in the video tape reveals “a real internal crisis.”
On the other hand, the video tape showed a terrorist with a black beard leading some men in the eastern part of the country.
Suicide bombers were shown along with a number of masked men likely to be the “suicide cell.”

El Para joins Algeria Reconciliation

Ammari Saifi known as Abderrezak El Para nicknamed Abu Heidara El Aourassi, deputy of Hassan Hattab, former leader of the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) said he has never supported the attacks carried out by the group since the withdrawal of Hattab.

El Para also said he started contacting some brigades to urge them to not acknowledge the leadership of Droudkel.
“Droudkel was a soldier when the GSPC was founded before he called on his followers to disobey to Allah.”
He added that targeting civilians in public places and markets by suicide attacks is a “sort of admitting failure to face armed people and reach military targets.”
According to a statement issued by El Para, he indicated that he joined Hattab’s initiative, saying his decision is not temporary and not backed by certain purposes.
“It is the result of conviction after a deepen study.”
El Para washes hands of GSPC deviations under Droudkel’s leadership
El Para considered the years he spends in prison a “positive fate.” “It allowed me weighing the pros and cons and concluding that armed attacks hurt a lot the Algerian people.”

"Young people, this is my piece of advice"

El Para advised people who want to join the GSPC to stop thinking to do that. He warned them against fatwas on the Internet and CD-ROMs on misleading facts about Islam.
