Army air forces of the 4th and 6th military regions have launched an air attack targeting 4-wheels cars smuggling cigarettes in Tamanrasset, and Ghardaia southern provinces. 6 smuggler shave been arrested in this operation.
An Army detection aircraft had managed perceiving 6 4x4 cars in south east Ain Salah region, between Tamanrasset and Adrar. Short time later, Army helicopters had launched an attack against the cars, managing destructing 1 car at least, while the rest had fled.
Meanwhile, the five running away cars had been noticed a day later in Menia, but they refused to stop, forcing Army forces opening fire against them and destruct all of them. 4 cigarettes smugglers have been arrested and handed over to the National Gendarmerie brigade in Menia, for investigation.
In the meantime, an Army helicopter has attacked a car last weekend, while 2 people have been arrested, in northern west Ghardaia southern province.
These operations undertaken by the Army forces are with the aim of tightening the grip on smugglers, and terrorist groups harbouring southern Algeria.
