DUBAI — A French security advisor kidnapped in Somalia 11 months ago appealed for help to secure his release, in a video posted on jihadist websites and picked up by the SITE monitoring group on Wednesday. "I ask the French people to do everything for my release," said the hostage, who appeared in the video dressed in orange, seated on the ground in front of four armed men, and reading from a text in French. Am Donnerstagabend wurde in Somalia ein britischer Mitarbeiter der Hilfsorganisation Save the Children und ein somalischer Helfer von Bewaffneten verschleppt [...] Bislang gebe es keine Hinweise auf den Verbleib der Mitarbeiter [...] Die Lage in Adado sei zuletzt sehr gespannt gewesen [...] Im Süden der Stadt hätten sich Kämpfer einer Miliz gesammelt, die offenbar versuchen wollten, Adado einzunehmen. In der Gegend sind auch noch mehrere andere bewaffnete Banden aktiv, darunter auch Piraten. Trotzdem galt das Gebiet bislang als sicherer als andere Teile Somalias ... mehr

Save the Children worker Frans Barnard, and a local colleague, who was later freed unharmed, were seized in the town of Adado last Thursday.
