TRANSPORT: ADRIATIC FERRIES TO CONNECT APULIA AND GREECE

GENOA - The new ferry company Adriatic Ferries will connect Apulia and the western ports of Greece. The new company is the product of the alliance between Ventouris Ferries and Agoudimos Lines, both of which have been active in the area for some time. "The new company will operate a daily link between Bari and Igoumenitsa, as well as a weekly link, which will become daily during the summer period, to Corfu as well" explains a spokesman of P. Lorusso & CO, agent of Ventouris and Jadrolinija for the Apulian city, on the website Ship2shore. Later there will also be ferry services between Bari and Patrasso, with a stopover at Cefalonia in summer, and Brindisi-Corfù- Igoumenitsa and an extra stop in Zante in high season. The Adriatic Ferries fleet will consist of two ferries of Ventouris, the Seatrade (built in 1973, capacity of 450 passengers and 450 cars) - acquired from the Swedish Stena in February 2010 - and the Polaris (1975, 600 passengers and 550 cars), and two of Agoudimos: the Ionian King (1991, 1399 passengers and 550 cars) and the Ionian Sky (1974, 990 passengers and 450 cars).
