Nachdem an mehreren Tagen Erdstöße der Stärke 6 auf der Richter-Skala gemessen wurden (siehe dazu auch: Erdbeben-Schwarm in Kenia und Tansania), wird in diesem Zusammenhang nun ein größerer Vulkanausbruch des Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai im Norden Tansanias befürchtet; Lava fließt bereits. Ol Doinyo Lengai ist ein aktiver Vulkan, der jährlich ausbricht. Wissenschaftler sind allerdings beunruhigt, weil der Ausbruch nun von Erdbeben begleitet wird.

Hundreds of villagers have fled their homes on the slopes of Mount Ol Doinyo Lengai, in northern Tanzania, fearing an imminent volcanic eruption. A BBC correspondent says lava is flowing from one side of the mountain, causing panic among the villagers.
