ARCHAEOLOGY: ALGERIA, 5,000-YEAR-OLD GRAVES DISCOVERED

ALGIERS - Funerary monuments from around 5 thousand years ago have been found in Algeria, in the region of M'Sila, in Maadhid, 250 km south-east of the capital. According to Nadir Koudria, an archaeologist at the University of Algiers, quoted by the APS agency, they are "10 proto-historic, cylindrical-shaped graves". The graves, built in stone, are 6 metres in diameter, and 2.5 metres high, and are made up of a funeral chamber and two more chambers above. Apart from the funerary monuments, a second archaeological site from the prehistoric era "maybe even more important than the first" added the archaeologist, has been discovered in the same region.
