Hatte den Text schon in Englisch geschrieben und bin zu faul zum Uebersetzen:

Susa (Apollonia) was the harbor town of Cirene which is located further inward th country and up the escarpment. The photos taken by a friend of mine who is working in that area show one of the typical Italian (and Turkish) forts dating back to the times where they had to defend themselves agaisnt the attacks of the Libyen Freedom Fighters respectively Rebels in their terms. The fortifications is built with local material but would nt be strong enough to withstand any shelling by artillery which was in use at that time. The reason to build such old fashioned and obsolete fortification was quite easy: The rebels did not have heavy weapons but only rifles, a few machine-guns and very few real guns...
