Cyber activists in Bahrain have declared Valentine's Day a "day of wrath" in the kingdom. It is also the 10th anniversary of a referendum in which Bahrainis approved a national charter promising a new political era after decades of political unrest. Organisers chose this date to signal their belief that the authorities had reneged on the charter's promise. Yesterday, Bahrain announced a BD1,000 ($2,650) gift to each Bahraini family, to mark the 10th anniversary of the National Action Charter - a day which signalled a new era in the country, and the beginning of political reforms which included a new constitution and an elected parliament. Reactions on Twitter varied, with some counting their money and what they plan to do with the windfall and others complaining that it is too little, too late. MANAMA, Bahrain – Soldiers opened fire Friday on thousands of protesters defying a government ban and streaming toward the landmark square that had been the symbolic center of the uprising to break the political grip of the Gulf nation's leaders.

Officials at the main Salmaniya hospital said at least 50 people were injured, some with gunshot wounds. Some doctors and medics on emergency medical teams were in tears as they tended to the wounded. X-rays showed bullets still lodged inside victims.


Bahrain protesters shot as heir promises talks

MANAMA (AFP) – Bahraini police opened fire on anti-regime protesters in the capital on Friday, wounding dozens of them, an AFP reporter and witnesses said, a day after four people were killed and some 200 wounded.

As details of the latest violence emerged, Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa promised to open a national dialogue once calm returns.

Im Laufbandtext kommt gerade : Der Herrscher bietet Gespräche an, die Schiiten lehnen dankend ab.
Es scheint hier doch eher ein Religionskonflikt incl. angebl. Diskriminierungen zu sein.
Hier werden, sollte diese Einschätzung stimmen, die USA vermutlich alles tun um den Iran nicht triumphieren zu lassen.
