No suicide attack in Algeria since last August says a security report
Almost 200 terrorists eliminated in 2008, including emirs and foreigners

War on terror has maintained its ferocity during 2008, as security services have managed eliminating more than 185 terrorists belonging to Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (QIM), including squad’s emirs and foreign members.
Consequently, security services have managed maintaining the situation clear from any suicide attack for more than 6 months, i.e. since last August, which is the longest secured period since the conversion of Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) into QIM.
However, a security outcome issued in 2008, of which El Khabar got a copy, mentioned that the terror organization lead by Abu Musaab Abdelouadoud managed, though, committing different attacks in particular region’s areas.
Security services have focussed tracking down QIM’s terrorists all along western Algeria, like Kabylia region, Batna, Jijel, Constantine, Skikda and Biskra. Tracking down operations have been, also, executed along western Algeria, including Medea, Tipaza, Ain Defla, Sidi Belabes and Tlemcen.
Yet, the most violent period in terms of suicide attacks claimed by QIM during 2008 has been recorded in last August. Suicide attackers’ assaults targeted, in August, two National Gendarmerie Academies in Isser and Zemouri, in Boumerdes, western Algeria, leaving 51 dead and 64 injured, while another suicide attack, in the same month, targeted Information Department at Tizi Ouzou Police Station, hitting 25 people.
