ALGIERS - Seven paintings signed by Pablo Picasso were discovered in Algeria in the city of Medrissa, 60 km south of Tiaret, during drilling work for the construction of a well. APS reported that the news was released by the Cultural Directorate of Wilaya in Tiaret (west), specifying that the works were transferred to the Museum of Fine Art in Algiers for the necessary authentication. According to the same source, the paintings were finished in 1944 and could have been painted by Picasso who reportedly visited the region where numerous Spanish colonials lived.
