Security services reject a truce with al-Qaeda in the Sahara

Algerian security services have rejected an armistice proposed by the leader of Sahara Squad at Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, Yahia Djouadi, a well informed source told El Khabar.
The truce stipulates that Al-Qaeda to stop targeting foreigners operating in oil fields in Algeria and Mauritania, in exchange that security services stop tracking down Al-Qaeda4S elements in Sahel region, added the same source.
The source further mentioned that mediators have met Yahia Djouadi several times, while the last time had been in last November, in a place near Minaka, northern Mali. They proposed on him to lay down arm and join National Reconciliation.
In turn, the same source mentioned that Yahia Djouadi and the military commander, Hamid El Souffi, have responded by proposing a truce with security services in the Sahara region.
The progress of negotiations required charging a Colonel at Intelligence Services to supervise the operation, however, the proposal of Yhia Djouadi has been rejected, the same source added.
To recall, security services have proposed on Yahia Djouadi, last November, to bring his elements to a secured and locked area before laying down arms. Such a proposal had been rejected by Djouadi, while negotiations are still pursued, as terrorists have shown interest in, the source concluded.
