Da Südsudan seit dem 9. Juli 2011 ein eigenständiger Staat ist, wird auch eine neue Währung benötigt. In der kommenden Woche wird diese neue Währung eingeführt: "South Sudan Pound", kurz SSP.
Flugzeugladungen voll mit dem neuen Geld werden am Mittwoch in der Hauptstadt Juba erwartet, ab kommenden Montag, 18.07.2011, soll die neue Währung in Umlauf gebracht werden. Die Umtauschrate ist 1:1 zur ehemaligen Währung, dem "Sudanese Pound".
