In Algerien sind zwei Selbstmordattentäter bei der Explosion einer Bombe in ihrem Fahrzeug getötet worden. Der Fahrer eines mit Sprengstoff beladenen Kleinlasters habe sich bei einem Kontrollposten am Ausgang der Stadt Thénia rund 60 Kilometer östlich der Hauptstadt Algier zu halten geweigert, erfuhr am Montag die Nachrichtenagentur AFP aus Sicherheitskreisen. Kurz darauf sei das Fahrzeug der beiden Attentäter explodiert. Ein weiterer Mensch sei ebenfalls getötet worden.

Bei einer Bombenexplosion gefolgt von einem Selbstmordanschlag vor einer Militärakademie in Algerien sind nach Krankenhausangaben mindestens 18 Offiziere in Ausbildung getötet worden. Ein Sprecher der Klinik sagte, angesichts der mindestens 20 Verletzten sei davon auszugehen, dass die Zahl der Toten noch steigen werde.
